Favorite

Thinking about Sunday's sermon, led me to one of my favorite hymns. During the application part of the sermon, Pastor Jordan stated, " The wrath of God is coming, Flee to Jesus." Jesus is our only hope, we must be clothed in His righteousness to be right before God. He is our great rescuer, from this present evil age (Gal. 1:4) and the wrath to come. (1 Thess. 1:10) May we hide ourselves in Him...

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
[originally When my eye-strings break in death]
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

Halfway there...

"And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power." Hebrews 1:3

So... I am 20 weeks now. I am halfway through my pregnancy and so thankful to Christ for upholding Jed and I thus far. We went for our 20 week ultrasound today and it was so fun to see him move and squirm and see that he has all the right parts. It's amazing to me how God knits them together so perfectly. He is now 12oz and the size of a small cantaloupe. Actually probably a very large cantaloupe. Turns out Jedidiah is going to be a BIG boy. His head and his legs measure in the 85th percentile. I guess his is going to big like his daddy. We hope to post pics from the video soon. Again thanking the Lord for His sustaining grace and looking forward to the next 20 weeks...

We found out we were pregnant on our 3 year anniversary!!

Welcome

Welcome to our blog! The purpose of this blog is two-fold:

• Primarily and most importantly, we want to encourage you to look to Christ. We plan to do this by posting scripture, quotes, hymns and what the Lord is teaching us in His Word.

• Second, we want to use this blog to update you on the growth of our little family. Lord willing, we are expecting a baby boy in September. His name will be Jedidiah Edward Minton. After many months of discussion, this is where we have landed. Joel and I love the meaning of the name, it means “ beloved of the Lord” and can be found in 2 Samuel 12:25. Edward is everyone on both sides of our families middle name, so that was an easy choice. We are very excited and can’t wait to the meet the little guy. As of now, he is the size of a sweet potato and weighs 6oz. I’m hoping to grow him a lot bigger than that now that I have my appetite back. After a few weeks of being pretty sick, I am now eating like a horse. We are looking forward to God knitting him together over the next 5 months. Our pray for him is that he would trust in Christ and would say with Him “ Upon You I was cast from birth, You have been my God from my mother’s womb.” Psalm 22:10.

So stay tuned to check out what is going on at the Mintons!
